Despite what can I only imagine have been Levi’s best efforts to turn their employees against me, I’m grateful to report that I have received countless texts and DMs of support from current and former employees as well as external long-term business partners.
For this, I feel enormously grateful. While I may appear immune to the mob’s criticisms, I am, in fact, not. So these kind words from former colleagues are keeping me going. It’s nice to know not everyone you ever worked with hates you.
Note: quite a few of these folks disagree with me on quite a bit - but the unifying characteristic is that they are willing to hear those out with a different point of view without resorting to you are pure evil!! type epithets. Score!
This is ALL I want. That we talk to each other, assume good intentions, normalize disagreement and debate and remain empathetic to our friends, colleagues and neighbors, even when we vehemently disagree. I consider it progress that I’ve received any such support at all, because I received exactly none during my last two years at Levi’s.
Thought I’d share just a few, edited snippets, with no names or identifying details, as I wouldn’t want any of these folks to get into any trouble. I’m sure any naysayers who might come across this think I’ve made these myself. I didn’t. I don’t have time for such silliness. But folks like this aren’t inclined to believe I do anything honestly so. . . there’s no convincing. I accept that.
Thank you all.
You only find out which of your co-workers have class and grace on your way out. Good to remember for the long run, karma works in mysterious ways ;)
Can’t wait for my copy to be delivered! You’re a warrior, and I’m proud to know you. #OG
