Boston's new women's soccer team launched with "Too Many Balls" ad campaign. And it was deemed offensive.

So they took it down and apologized.

On October 15, Boston’s Bos Nation announced that they would be the newest team added to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). They will start competing as the NWSL’s 15th expansion team in the 2026 season.

The team is owned by Jennifer Epstein, whose family also owns the Boston Celtics, and Elizabeth Banks, the actress who played Ellie Trinket in The Hunger Games movie series.

They introduced the team with an ad, meant to be humorous, about balls. Goes like this:

Boston, the city of champions.

A legacy filled with trophies. Banners. Rings. And balls.

Old balls.

New balls

Steel balls.

Cold balls.

Even GOAT balls.

Yeah . . . Boston loves its balls.

But maybe there are too many balls in this town?

So let’s add a new chapter to our city’s legacy. [. . .]

Where anything is possible. No balls necessary.

Not super funny. But whatever. An honest attempt at humor. I don’t find it offensive. Normal people wouldn’t. The joke, for those who aren’t clear, is that women don’t have balls (testicles) and this league is for women. So no balls. No testicles in women’s soccer. Seems reasonable. Rational even.

Except now, the approved line of thinking brought to us by the Left, is that if you say you are a woman you are, even if you have balls. Especially maybe! So yeah, women can have balls! Obv!

Therefore this ad is offensive for making the joke/assertion that there needn’t — and shouldn’t — be any balls in women’s soccer.

Out Magazine wrote this:

. . . fans are incensed that the inclusive league that values itself on diversity, equity, and progressiveness would launch a new team with an ad that equates bodies with gender.

Right. Bodies with balls aren’t equated with any particular gender! Duh.

Journalist Frankie de la Cretaz wrote this on X:

At a time when trans women are being excluded from sport at every level, is “too many balls” really the tagline you want to go with here?   

Yeah, they did want to go with it. And PS: trans women aren’t being excluded from sport at every level. That’s the problem. In fact, males (XY) are being included in sport at every level from the Olympics (not trans, DSD), to the NCAA finals, to high school state championships, and of course, the Title IX re-write has mandated it to be so in the education system.

Back to Frankie . . . bodies with balls can be women! It’s TERF-Y and very bigoted to suggest otherwise.

So what happened? The team scrubbed the ad from the internet and apologized the day after they launched the campaign.

Ladies, I’m begging you . . . don’t apologize for saying women don’t have balls! (I can’t believe I have to write that sentence.) They don’t. Women do not have testicles. If you allow yourself to be convinced that they do, you are, in fact, both losing your mind and part of the problem.

I just can’t with this absurdity anymore. Bos Nation, you thought it was funny. It’s not really. But it’s not wrong.

Here’s there simpering and pathetic apology.

Women’s sports ARE for people without balls, also known as women. The fact that this is even up for debate and that women are bullied into apologizing — and then do! — for saying women’s sports are for women is everything that is wrong in this ridiculous state of affairs.

Ladies, man up. Or, as a friend of mine in high school used to say: Nut up!

Whatever you do, do not bend a knee. And do not apologize for believing — and demanding — that women’s sports be for XX only.
