Friday night in Indianapolis, the Indiana Fever closed the regular-season home slate with a 111-91 win over the Connecticut Sun. Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell each scored 34. The basketball was fine. The night around it was the story.
Riley Gaines was there with Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita.
It was only her second Fever game in person. The first was with me in Minneapolis, where staff told her to put down a “Thank you Sophie” sign. This time she was on friendlier ground. No one confiscated the truth. I’d sort of dare the Fever to do it while she’s sitting with the AG in their home state.
Simone Biles was there too, courtside in WNBA essentials gear.
Her husband, Jonathan Owens, signed with the Colts recently; Indianapolis is now a second home for the couple. She attended one Fever game in 2024 and said there would be more. And so here we are.
It seems the the team invited her, gave her front row tickets, put her on the jumbotron and staged a receiving line with Lexie Hull, Kelsey Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham.
As a side note, Mitchell was the only one who acknowledged Biles’ brother with a handshake (which makes me like her even more). Cunningham leaned in for a hug that looked pretty darned frosty and stilted. Biles didn’t look happy to play along with that part. But she did it. The Fever posted it. Fine. That’s marketing.
In my opinion, it was an obvious attempt to change the subject. For a month, the Save Women’s Sports crowd has stolen the show at Fever games — in the stands, outside the arena, in the headlines and online through social media viral moments.
Biles is an interesting choice if the point was to present “the other side.” More than a year ago she went after Gaines on X, calling her “truly sick,” a “sore loser,” and telling her to “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.” Then she apologized for getting personal and left X for good. Though the offending confrontational tweets remain on her timeline, which hasn’t been updated since August 2025. My guess is Biles was shocked at the backlash she received for going after Gaines. In her bubble, she didn’t realize how much support Gaines has. And the view that she represents — that women’s sports are for women only.
So Biles fled the backlash for more supportive pastures — Instagram and TikTok.
An older Biles tweet still sits in the archive: “good thing guys don’t compete against girls or he’d take all the gold medals.”
Biles’ thought process on this topic is contradictory and not well thought through, clearly. It seems she adopts left wing views and talking points reflexively. Without necessarily questioning or thinking through the implications. All while knowing that men should not compete against women. All elite athletes know it. They know the difference. They live it.
Fine, she’s not an academic or a politician. But why she went after Riley without any provocation remains a mystery. Assumedly, she thought she’d flex her leftie credentials by slamming Riley and then she would garner praise for it — only it didn’t work. She reaped the whirlwind. She got hammered which I’m sure she did not expect. Or like.
Back to Indy . . .
The staged moment was pleasant enough. Only it did not work to shift the narrative.
Royce White stole the night.
He is the second man to declare for the 2027 WNBA draft after Enes Kanter Freedom. The league rejected him. The bit continues. White is more theatrical than Freedom, and his record is worse: domestic-violence claims from his ex-wife. And now, he is subject to a multi-decade civil protective order following these abuse allegations. That is ugly, to be sure.
I mention it only because people on the left now call this whole campaign from White a “bit”— they fail to see that every man claiming to be a woman is doing a bit! — and then treat a man’s violence as proof the bit is fake. They did not apply that standard to Alexis Black, the man Tish Hyman confronted in a Beverly Hills Gold’s Gym locker room in November 2025. Black took his ex-wife’s name. He slammed her face into a toilet seat and inflicted a compound fracture of the jaw which required surgery to repair. Gender ideologues still treated him as a woman in a women’s space. We were the meanies and bigots for pointing out he was a wife beater.
For the record, here is “Alexis” in that gym locker room:
And here are how the headlines communicated what happened:
What I appreciate about White is how perfectly he speaks the gender woo language thus pointing out how ridiculous it is. His posts are meant to mock self-ID, and they are indistinguishable from the real thing. Friday he posted: “The Kweeeen has arrived! They better bow for a beautiful Black Trans Lesbian!”
He told cameras that Black trans lesbians have always existed and have a right to participate. You cannot tell the satire from the doctrine. That is the indictment. That is how this is working to expose the absurdity of gender ideology. Serious analysis wasn’t entirely effective in the mainstream discourse. But humor does seem to do the trick.
If the Fever hoped Biles would reset the media narrative, they failed. White showed up in a blonde wig. Riley took photos with him. The crowd high-fived him. The jumbotron may have looked the other way but the building and the internet did not. This was the news and social media focus after the event.
Credit where it’s due: the league did not throw anyone out this time. They avoided another censorship fiasco that only recruits more people to our side.
But they still lost the night.
No one really cared that Simone Biles was there. I think it’s great if the best gymnast on earth wants to support the WNBA and elite female athletes. Like her or not, she is the GOAT, with tens of millions of fans. And even she could not move the story with her 11M+ IG followers. Good effort by the Fever and the WNBA. But it didn’t work.
The force of the narrative still runs toward fair sports for women — whether it arrives through Gaines, the women’s groups holding pep rallies outside arenas, XX-XY Athletics, Kanter Freedom or White in a wig. The momentum is only going one way. Towards truth.
We are winning. Paid influencers and jumbotron moments will not divert it.
In the end, reality does not need a receiving line. And truth always outs in the end.

“ The momentum is only going one way. Towards truth.”
AMEN!!!!!!!!!
I care nothing about Biles and her husband. She looked like a low class hooker to me in her gear and boots.
Riley? I care a great deal about because the NCAA screwed her and now for her movement leadership to protect women's athletics. And good for the AG.
Royce is making the WLNBA look like the foolheaty organization it is. How about that wig! Better looking than Biles braids!
