I cannot wait until Tuesday. I want this election to be over. (I know, I know, it may not be over on Tuesday.)
I can’t take all the various polls flying at us every day. I can’t take all the stunts and the candidates’ closing arguments which aren’t really the closing arguments because it all keeps going and going with Cardi B and J.Lo and SNL and Rogan. I haven’t watched or listened to any of these endorsements or appearances of the last few days, just viewed/heard highlights flying by in my X feed. I’m at my limit. I hate all of this.
Please remind me why I should care who Cardi B and J.Lo endorse? Wasn’t J.Lo with P.Diddy when he shot someone in the face at a nightclub then let some other guy named Barrow take the fall, someone who served 9 years in prison for first-degree assault and reckless endangerment, but not murder? If J.Lo came out to condemn Diddy since his arrest, I missed it. And to be clear, the Diddy charges are worse than R. Kelly and Weinstein combined. Rape of minors, false imprisonment, drugging, and beating and on and on. And I’m sorry, everyone knew. The Hollywood fawners who were desperate to go to his Hampton’s White Party every year had more than an inkling of what was happening in the private rooms. And that includes Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
Furthermore, in the why do I care what J.Lo thinks bucket: she’s been engaged 6 times and married 4 times. I mean, I feel like she would have failed the marshmallow experiment big time. Why should I listen to her? I like her as an entertainer (even though many of her movies are pure dreck, I’d argue they are top notch cheese which I sometimes enjoy) but she isn’t who I would rely on for astute policy insight.
But mostly it’s the to and fro I am up to here with.
Selzer says Kamala has leapfrogged Trump in Iowa by 2 points! That’s the clincher!
Oh no she hasn’t. We have our own poll on the R side that shows Trump is ahead in Iowa by 10 points! (No way.)
This whole Iowa thing is a psyop Eye on the ball! Stay focused on Pennsylvania!
This is the real data! The real data is bullish on Trump!
As someone who ran research and insights at a large company, I am very familiar with the ways data can be manipulated to support the point you are trying to make. You can leave some things out, you can cut it just so . . . I’m just waiting for Tuesday. None of this “data” is trustworthy.
What best sums up my feelings about the election: I really, really do not want a Harris/Walz administration. I am voting against them. They are enemies of free speech. They believe in censorship for our own good. They would lock us down again in a heartbeat. They believe “experts” know best and will increase the power of centralized bureaucracies like the CDC and the Department of Education. Harris’ campaign still requires Covid vaccines as a condition of employment, long after corporations, schools and the vast majority of universities have left this pointless regulation behind.
As Alex Berenson wrote as to why he is somewhat reluctantly voting for Trump: “The alternative is an elite that has decided it knows what’s best for America - and is going to give it to us good and hard.” I agree.
The Democrats are provably the party of the elite now, an inversion from decades past. Though they still pretend to be the party of the people. And, despite Trump’s silver spoon upbringing, he speaks to the working class. He actually likes them. It couldn’t be more obvious when he interacts with everyday folks (cue McDonald’s and garbage truck stunts). And no tax on tips was his idea, not Harris’, though she quickly stole it and presented it as her own.
And so, despite the fact that I am being trolled as a fake feminist (really, I’m a class traitor) I did, in fact, already vote for Trump/Vance. I think judge-y Mark Cuban really put me over the edge.
And, if I could go on, as a long time San Francisco resident, I’m all too familiar with Harris. She has no political philosophy or principles, she just does what is expedient. In her “tough on crime” phase she went after moms when their kids were truant and then, in her “defund the police” phase in 2020 she pledged bail for rioters.
Harris has no actual beliefs. And she cannot string a sentence together. She will not rescind the re-write of Title IX. She will not protect girls’ and women’s rights within the education system. She can’t define what a woman is (perhaps the simplest and easiest thing to do — adult human female, but the Democrats pretend it is complicated). She won’t condemn the far Left agitating contingent/pro-Hamas caucus. She has no convictions, only the will to power and can and will be manipulated by those she surrounds herself with. If she even chooses them.
Walz is just not bright and kinda weird — ironic given he started the whole Vance is weird thing. He lies for no reason other than to ingratiate himself (he said his family used IVF when they didn’t; he said he won teaching awards that he didn’t win; he said he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square crackdown when he wasn’t) and then he says he just “misspoke” because he gets excited and he’s a “knucklehead.” He yanked his son by the hand in a manner that suggests a violent temper and he just reads as pretty creepy all around, in my humble opinion.
Lastly, Walz led some of the most draconian and egregious civil rights violations during covid in Minnesota, and then lied and said schools were closed for ten days when, in reality, it was a year and a half. He instituted a Stasi-style snitch line so that regular folks would report on neighbors breaking 6-foot distancing covid rules. Gross. He’s an authoritarian through and through.
Does Trump lie and say dumb things? Yes. Did Trump initiate the lockdowns and get the whole covid panic started? Yes. (This has been my primary reservation, despite the fact that no one seems to care about 2020-2021 anymore even though it was the most consequential global event fathomable. Can you think of another time in the last 100 years that people around the world were prevented from exercising basic rights like sending their children to school, leaving the house, moving freely, running their businesses, going to church or the doctor or family visits to the old and infirm in the hospital? I cannot. And I’d prefer to never have this happen again even if most people seem to want to pretend it either never happened or was totally normal.)
Did Trump also say that schools needed to open in the summer of 2020 prompting the Biden campaign/then administration to pursue more lengthy and aggressive school closures for more than a year beyond that moment in order to position themselves as “anti-Trump” and caring? Absolutely.
I don’t believe Trump would make that mistake again. And if I’m voting on anything it is three things:
AGAINST the Democrats’ pursuit of more government control and censorship and centralized power;
AGAINST another covid lockdown scenario;
AND it is a vote FOR more chaos (yes, I prefer chaos over lockdowns and iron-fisted control by government) and individual freedom.
You can hate Jordan Peterson (the Left) or love him (the Right) but there is truth in this statement: “We need to keep one foot in order and the other in chaos.”
And right now we need more chaos and less government control.
Democrats want all control and order. And they will pursue it with authoritarian will. The Left is fond of saying that the most important thing is to vote for Kamala as a vote in favor of democracy (the “insight” being Trump will try to stay in power forever and cancel elections forever).
Well, in my view the Democrats are anti-democracy. They shut us in our homes without legislating it, all through executive “emergency” order. The state of emergency was upheld for 3 years. They installed a candidate who did not receive a single vote and then mobilized the mainstream media and all of Hollywood to anoint her even though no one liked her in 2019/2020 when she actually ran! And they believe in censorship in the name of controlling “misinformation” which includes censoring citizens for things like “hey, maybe it was a lab leak” and labeling as hate speech things like “trans women are male.”
Was it always the case that the Democrats were anti-democracy? No, probably not. They were the anti-war, free speech party. That’s why I was a Democrat. But it is true now. They are the party of we can offer you safety in exchange for your freedom (see: Covid). And I choose freedom over safety.
As my dad texted me yesterday, Benjamin Franklin said: “If you give up freedom for safety, you’ll have neither.” (I don’t know how he is voting and I think he’s a bit tortured over it.)
For those that come at me with “Trump is a sexual assaulter.” My response: Bill Clinton. And Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff, who admittedly impregnated the nanny and, by credible reports, assaulted an ex-girlfriend at the Cannes Film Festival, in public. Is Harris covering for him? Willing to overlook it, to maintain the illusion that Democrats are the pro-woman party? Yes it seems so. And the media is carrying water for the Democrats on this one and going with the Doug Emhoff is the ideal model of masculinity and a modern day sex symbol.
There is a long list of Democrats also accused and/or convicted of sexual assault, rape, harassment and they continue to remain elevated, reputations in tact. I’d point to the way that the Democratic Party machine smeared the women who accused Clinton of harassment and assault; and yet, he continues to enjoy elite status with premiere speaking spots at conventions and other Democratic Party events and rallies.
I hate to say it, but both sides elevate men who treat women like garbage. Ted Kennedy anyone? I mean, he drove a car off a bridge, killed his female passenger and waited 10 hours to report it to authorities. Did he vote to protect women’s rights? Yes. He was a mixed bag, to be sure.
And so, because Trump has committed to protecting Title IX and women’s rights in the education system, I’m willing to go that route. For those that troll and shout: why are you worrying about this?! It is a nothing issue. You are just anti-trans.
No. First off ~900 wins have been stolen from women in sports, according to the U.N. But it’s more than that: if the elite class can convince us that men’s and women’s bodies are no different; that men can become women; that trans women are biological women . . . well, what can’t we be convinced of? It is the most fundamental and egregious lie furthered by the activists and medical industrial complex and our government and the media. I will not accede to this lie.
And, despite the Democrats claiming Trump will institute a national abortion ban and go after IVF, he has clearly said repeatedly that that is not true. He believes abortion should go to the states and he supports IVF. The Democrats lie about his stance on these issues with total impunity.
Oh and by the way, since Dobbs, there are more abortions not fewer. So has Roe being overturned really impacted access? The facts would suggest no.
Plus, despite the fact that I am pro-choice, I loathe the whole ghoulish “celebrate your abortion” campaign furthered by the “progressives.” Abortion should be safe, legal, and rare, in my opinion. And I’d like to get back to that. And most reasonable people agree.
Ok what about war? The Democrats used to be the anti-war party. But the embrace of Dick Cheney — the ultimate war monger — by the Democrats is an unwelcome event that really shows their true colors. It is, however, not surprising. In addition to being the party of the elite, the Democrats are also the party of corporate interests, the military industrial complex and war. And it’s no surprise, these things are related. Elites don’t send their kids to war. It doesn’t hit close to home.
Ok that was more than I intended to write. I’ve thought about this a lot, despite the fact that people like to call me stupid because of my views on all of this. I’m pretty sure I’ve thought about it all way more than they have.
Is it possible I’ll regret my vote? If Trump wins and re-writes the Constitution and we never have elections again? I guess. I don’t think that will happen. And I regret my vote for Biden in 2020 and I’m getting through.
Mostly, I cannot take it anymore. Please let it be over soon. We will be fine no matter what, despite handwringing on both sides. We will get through the next four years, no matter what. I promise.
Long read but worth it.
My reasons for finally voting for Trump rather than a third party were many, most similar to yours, however what made me enthusiastic about it was when Tulsi and RFK Jr, along with Elon Musk, all joined him. I pray that he wins, and turns these 3 brilliant patriots loose on the establishment in DC. I dream of somehow reducing the political power of the teachers unions, absolutely one of the worst corrupting forces in politics, but that is likely a bridge too far. But I can dream.
I guess I can also say that Jennifer Sey supporting Trump is another good sign that I made the right choice. I am a free speech absolutist and sad that voting "D" says to me your are pro censorship. And anti Woman. Crazy to me that the Abortion absolutists can't see what damage is being done to women's rights by the people they are voting for, and yes the sad statistic that the number of abortions has gone up not down since the Dobbs decision.
Lastly, I hope it is over Tuesday Wednesday, but doubtful it will be. Let the Law suits begin.
Well received at my Equatorial living patio in northeast Brasil.
Tipping point Tuesday coming up.
The sun will rise the morning of November 6. That's all I can offer. Darkness could surround the USA quickly.
One comment, Jen. Trump should own up to the C19 debacle. I recall his public comments in Ivermectin and Hyydroxychloroquine and how the Pavlovian lap dog legacy media jumped all over him.
Pence was the leader of the government cabal inclusive of Fauci, Brix and Redfield. Collins offered guidance and assistance.
Scott Atlas' book tells it all.
I take no exception to your narrative. All the world is a stage for the political class and the government.
I applaud none of it but will be watching and listening from afar the morning of November 6.
The sun will rise. Afterwards? GOD knows!
