Adultery used to be grounds for divorce back in the day. (When you needed a reason) Feel so sad for everyone in this story. People who think they aren’t hurting anyone always hurt someone. If you don’t want to be married anymore just tell your spouse and be dignified going through the process (conscience uncoupling)🙃😛hope there are no kids involved. 🙆🏻‍♀️

She has been divorced THREE TIMES. It is quite possible that she duped him - and yes, that means he is a dick-guided fool. Fire him, but, for God's sake will someone trash this femme fatal?

At my last workplace (I'm still working in the same industry but now I work for a different operation) the HR manager was having a relationship with the GM. Both were married. They pretended it wasn't going on but everyone knew it, not just in that office but in the entire county (it's an industry where everyone quite literally knows everyone else). The only person who ever confronted them over the unethical nature of it (a mid level manager) was fired. Nobody trusted either of them, especially the HR Manager. HR people are some of the sleaziest people in the workplace. Change my mind.

Some people saying this is "cancel culture" or "surveillance state." Yeah, no. If you're going to have an affair, that's what sleazebag motels are for, don't try to dignify it with a big public concert outing. Jumbotron kiss cams at concerts and sporting events have been common knowledge for many years now, and when you're at a huge venue, you're also likely to run into someone you know.

Expand full comment
Jennifer Sey's avatar

Right? Jumbotrons aren't surveillance. They are expected and fun! People like (usually) seeing themselves up on the big screen with the rock stars and at the basketball game.

In my previous job, the HR guy had “work wife.” They went to lunch together. She was up for a promotion in his department. A coworker sent him an email saying, “just give her the job. We know the fix is in.”😂

I wouldn't put the kiss cam in the surveillance state category. Its a fun thing that lets fans see themselves at a show or sporting event. not meant as surveillance tactic though those exist everywhere as well.

Wait, "everyone’s Reddit-like reaction"??? She's the HR chief. He is the CEO. He is married (and maybe a father). They are not CEO and HR chief of Playboy. They set a standard for the rest of the company. Do you not get that the main dimension to this is corporate governance and behavior???

Of course adultery is wrong but gossip and claiming moral superiority aren’t great either…and we really don’t know what’s going on here. My opinion is of a mature woman, well educated , mother and grandmother and someone with strong ethics and values. This is a danger of social media..not only do I disagree, I’m unsubscribing.

Well, I agree with Jennifer and I found her take interesting. She's discussing the unity of reaction, with sympathy for the wronged wife. Glad to see this, considering how aggressively "open marriage" is touted these days. I think you should reconsider, and am saying this as a mature woman, grandmother age, but grown children too selfish to have children of their own, typical millennials.

Is it impossible that this wealthy guy has an "arrangement" with his wife? For all we know, she could be very well compensated to look the other way. The embarrassment may be due to other employees being upset.

Just wondering.

His wife promptly deleted his last name from her social media accounts; she's clearly not okay with her soon to be ex's sidepiece. She has several children with him too. Apparently the young woman in the booth is the HR woman's assistant, so she at least knew they were having an affair. The whole office undoubtedly knew it. That's the way these things go. The fact that they were publicly embracing and then reacted with shock and horror only because they were caught on camera is hilariously idiotic. It's 2025. There are cameras literally EVERYWHERE.

I’ve said this for years: Why is it called HR? They are neither H, nor R.

In this case, she is human so I stand corrected. But the hypocrisy highlights how the Human Resources Department is clearly not for the people, but for the company against the people and she acts accordingly.
