Dismissing the Cass review and re-writing Title IX is where the Left has gone to die

I see the annihilation of what the Democrats claim to stand for everywhere. Today's Title IX changes are just the latest iteration of failing to live in material reality and up to their values.

I was a Democrat and a self-described “left of left center” one at that because this is what I believed the Democratic Party stood for:

• Protection of the vulnerable, including the poor and working class

• High quality education for all

• Protecting every day folks from greedy corporate interests

• Protecting women and children

• Free speech

During covid, the Democrats violated everyone one of these tenets. These stated values were WHY I was a committed Democrat for almost 40 years. But given the lockdowns and school closures in 2020-2021, I decided I could no longer be a member of this Party (which isn’t to say I’m a Republican either).

During covid, the Democrats destroyed small businesses, abandoned women in the workforce, and abandoned public school children — with the poorest suffering the most from the lockdown and school closure policies. All the while the wealthy sent their kids to private schools, worked from home, ordered food and scolded everyone else to stay home and stay safe. They were ignoring — in all their virtue signaling about saving lives — that the vast majority of the world’s population cannot stay home without forgoing their income and ability to feed their families.

During lockdowns, the wealthy experienced the largest upward transfer of wealth in history. The wealth of billionaires increased to 3.5% of total household wealth, from 2% pre-covid driven lockdowns. In fact, the ten richest men in the world doubled their wealth during lockdowns — from $700 billion to $1.5 trillion — while incomes of 99% of the world’s population fell. Way to protect the vulnerable!

And, lest we forget, private schools opened across the country in the fall of 2020, while public schools in Democratic led cities and states did not open until fall 2021. The children kept out of school the longest suffered the most in terms of learning loss and mental health impacts. And continue to suffer with record high levels of absenteeism.

When it came to protecting everyday people from corporate interests, the Democrats also abandoned their post, coercing social media companies to censor people and forcing unproven vaccination on people lest they find themselves unemployed and unable to participate in the world. This of course drove record high profits for Big Pharma, not to mention Big Tech, since we were all forced to be at home on screens.

Of course if you owned a small mom and pop business you might just not exist anymore. Over 200,000 small businesses closed due to lockdowns, but heck, it was fewer than expected . . . so stop complaining!

The Democrats also abandoned women. During lockdowns, women dropped out of the workforce in record numbers to take care of their children. And while many have returned post-lockdowns, women still haven’t made it back into the labor force to levels before lockdowns, with black and Latino women faring the worst.

“The job loss that flowed from the pandemic was unique compared to other recessions in its impact on women because it was concentrated in the low-paid service jobs where women are overrepresented. Women lost the majority of leisure and hospitality jobs and retail jobs that disappeared in the wake of COVID. They were hard hit by job loss in education and health services and government as well. Women’s rates of unemployment were higher than men’s in the months after March 2020. Black women and Latinas fared worst of all.”

And of course, the silly antiquated notion of free speech became a major nuisance for government desperately wanting to tell us what we could and couldn’t say, for our own good. Or as Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson said in oral arguments for Murthy v Missouri (the case addressing whether or not the Biden administration violated the First Amendment in pressuring social media platforms to remove content it deemed harmful but was often true):

"My biggest concern is that your view has the First Amendment hamstringing the government in significant ways."

Throughout all of this, Democrats continued to claim — and still continue to — that they were supporting “progressive” values. But they no longer live in reality. They are warping the truth to fit their own ideology.

And so, as a no-longer-Democrat I no longer find it surprising when this Party continues to signal that they are willing to forsake women and children and run roughshod over the vulnerable while pretending they are doing the exact opposite. Or actually convincing themselves and really believing that they are helping.

Which reminds me of a quote by “radical feminist” writer Andrea Dworkin:

“The new pornography is a vast graveyard where the Left has gone to die.”

In keeping with Dworkin’s assertions, the Left’s continued defense of: 1) lockdowns and school closures; 2) “gender affirming care” and more broadly, gender ideology; 3) and censorship . . . are the vast graveyards where the Left has gone to die. But let’s focus on #2 for now because I’ve already kind of covered #1 and #3 above.

Despite the latest comprehensive review out of the UK — the Cass review — on the lack of evidence surrounding “youth gender medicine” and the social, medical and surgical “transition” of young people, the U.S. stands firm in committing to the ideas that sex is fungible, if you say you’re a woman you’re a woman, cutting off healthy body parts of children is kind, and using the word “woman” is mean because damnit some men have uteruses.

While the many countries in that right-wing bastion called “Europe” are rolling back “youth gender medicine” policies due to lack of evidence and the fact that no country should have ever run headlong into “if a 4 year old says they’re the opposite sex they are!,” the Democratic led states in the U.S. are holding firm and sticking with it’s the bad alt-right conservatives preventing children from being their true selves by refusing to dole out puberty blockers and opposite sex hormones.

Just this week Scotland announced it will be pausing puberty blockers for minors, based on the conclusions of the Cass review.

Not the U.S. though! This is all bunk according to the all-knowing leftie activists in the United States. According to trans activist Erin Reed, saying that sex is real and biology exists and that there are in fact sex based differences between males and females is anti-trans rhetoric spewed by TERFS like J.K. Rowling. And purely ideological! Pot-kettle, anyone?!

Despite the objective and very detailed findings of Dr. Hilary Cass, the super smartie pants activists in the United States KNOW that the evidence points to more meds for confused youth, otherwise you’re an evil murderer wanting to kill trans children. And the politicians continue to be afraid of these loud-mouths and ignore evidence, or lack thereof, from actual medical professionals.

Here’s a response to a post from me on Instagram, in which I simply defend women and girls’ right to their own sports and spaces.

Apparently I don’t understand “the latest science” and am causing suicides among young people. Which science? The science that says there is no evidence that medicalizing confused young people helps in any way? Yeah, I get that science.

And if this person thinks that they can shame me into backing down in defense of reality by saying my former colleagues and classmates are disappointed in me, I have news: their disappointment in me cannot even begin to compare with my disappointment in them choosing to deny reality in order to be in good standing with the Democratic Party and their “tribe.”

And now, just today, the Department of Education has released changes to Title IX. The new final rules re-write discrimination as "based on stereotypes, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex characteristics.” But not actual sex.

They are eliminating sex-based categories and distinctions.

The Department of Education is gaslighting us into accepting that there is no actual difference between males and females. There is only gender identity, sexual orientation, and sex “characteristics” which are not the same as biological sex. “Sex characteristics” include, for instance, fake breasts.

The Department of Education is playing games with language to smuggle in the lie that men and women are the same, only gender identity, sexual orientation and ‘sex characteristics’ are worthy of protection.

We are no longer living in material reality wherein sex is real, men and women are different, and because they are different, women deserve sex-based rights including privacy, safety and equal opportunity.

The new Title IX is a vast graveyard where the Left has gone to die.
