In a time such as this, we need courageous people like you to help us summon our own courage and voices. Thank you for illustrating the way. Another great piece.

This 'stack should make everyone understand that we may feel alone but there is a power "of one" that cannot be denied. Unfortunately, it also makes me frightened for humanity's future given what Rachel accomplished but not without substantial help. This excerpt from an AP article underscores my cocnern:

Michigan Assistant Attorney General Angela Povilaitis spoke at the sentencing hearing Wednesday for Larry Nassar, saying that the case proves society needs "investigative journalists more than ever."

Where are our investigative journalists these days? Lost in a world of censureship and a perverted journalism business model, I'm afraid. Maybe the Jennifer Sey's of this new world order can coax them out into the open. And maybe the brave ones (Taibbi, Schellenberger, Carlson, Greenwald, Weiss, et al) who already have will help propagate more of them. The need is a desperate one.

Yes. The Indy Star's reporting on the Nassar case is a testament to local journalism. We need more brave journalists willing to interrogate the issues. During covid, journalists all too often reprinted press releases from government agencies and Big Pharma as if that was journalism. They were complicit. It's a dereliction of duty. I hold them responsible in many ways for the persistent school closures and lockdowns which caused so much harm.
