Jen goes to Washington
I was invited to attend the signing of Trump's executive order banning men from women's sports
What a week! We released our ad Real Girls Rock last Sunday and as I shared here, JK Rowling shared it on Monday and since then life has been chaotic!
AND then, I got this invitation on Tuesday at around noon.
Yes, I was summoned to the White House for the signing of the Executive Order to keep men out of women’s sports. I rushed to accept the invite, get myself on a plane and be there in time for the signing the next day.
What was it like? Well, it was pretty cool! There were a lot of women and children there, many of whom I knew because we’ve been working together. It was an honor to be there in the room, with so many fighters. Every woman in that room has faced threats and bullying and near constant abuse from the men can be women/you’re not inclusive/you’re a bigot and trans-phobe crowd. And we were all vindicated.
Somehow I landed a prime spot right behind the President as he signed.
And, from my prime perch, once he was done thanking various Senators and Congresspeople, he turned around and asked someone to take his papers, and that someone was me. I can attest to the fact that it was simply a list of names on those papers. His entire speech was given without written guidance. He just talked.
Here’s when he handed me his papers. (Note: that’s Brett Craig — our creative director and the mastermind behind the ad — in this video.)
Here are some pics from that momentous day.

As I was standing there in that room, right behind the President, I kept thinking about two things. One, just five years ago I was on the way to a full-on cancellation because I’d had the audacity to object to closed public schools during covid. Three years ago I was fully cancelled and just didn’t give a shit anymore about what anyone said about me, so I decided to start XX-XY Athletics. You can’t be cancelled once you already are, right?
The other thing I kept thinking about was how many of my old friends would be horrified to see photos of me standing behind Trump and smiling.
Well, they can suck it. He did the right thing. The Democrats failed. They said men can be women and we the people rejected that outright ridiculous lie. And the Democrats are still standing by it, with only 18% of Americans on their side. They keep taking the side of an unhinged, devoid-of-logic minority. And they’ll keep losing until they stop being so crazy.
So to anyone who would sneer at me for being there . . . I don’t care what you think. You entrenched my position of not giving a shit what you think of me when you cancelled me for daring to go against the absurdity of closed schools and then you failed to come around even after it was clear that I was 100% right.
It was a great day. But there is still work to be done. We need the U.S. Olympic Committee on board. There are two times as many athletes competing in the Olympic movement than in programs in federally funded institutions (what the E.O. impacts). And an executive order is not final settled law. We need legislation passed otherwise the next President can write an executive order requiring that we allow men to steal women’s trophies.
The work continues. In the meantime, enjoy this historic photo.
I saw you there! You won me over when you fought for Covid sensibility and I was so happy to see you were there for this important milestone for our girls. Thank you for your bravery. You / we don’t have to agree with everything about President Trump to appreciate when he takes a good step.
Congratulations. Job well done. Thanks you for your tireless efforts.
