I was also one of those very lonely people in 2020-2023 for my Covid beliefs and skepticism, even within my own family. This story brought tears to my eyes. I am so very, very thankful for the people who publicly spoke out...including you, Jennifer.

"State mandated family separation is downright evil."

Apparently it is only evil if applied to those crossing the border illegally. If applied to legal US residents, it is A-OK

I am a science guy, but I will never look at "science" with the same trust and reverence again.

It just occurred to me that the things you mention in this article, a full debunking of Fauci broadcast to the masses is no less important to this country than when nazis were shown footage of the atrocities they had done to Serbs, Jews, and Roma after WWII.

Jay will have the platform to make this happen, perhaps not immediately but over time. The entire pandemic fascism should be treated as a 'never again' just like any other entirely fascist governmental attack (even if it lacked the same type of barbarity). The fascist 'left' must be de-programmed, shown how wrong they were, taught never to be that way again. One could say that this could be Jay's greatest gift to the country.

“I really do hope his legacy is left in tatters and that Jay’s nomination and ultimate appointment is only just the beginning. Fauci is such a mean-spirited, egomaniacal, narcissistic, camera-loving, political hack that it really will be just desserts for Fauci’s entire legacy to be obliterated. He does not deserve to be lauded in the history books. He deserves to be viewed as the striving, media-obsessed political animal that he is.”

YES!! YES!! YEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!

Jennifer: thank you for writing this and for your fortitude and bravery! I draw strength and inspiration from you.

Also from a historical perspective, i was a young teen during another pandemic: the Hong Kong flu (1968-1969). I remember exactly what happened then: NOTHING. There was no panic or lockdowns. The media did not have tickers showing was deaths. My parents went to work and we went to school. From living through that pandemic i knew something will really off with the approach to this pandemic.

Thank you for this great tribute. Jay is a prince of a guy, a leader, and a consensus-builder. I cannot wait to see what he will do at NIH.

I have been so impressed with most of the nominations coming from the new Administration. So glad to hear about the inherent goodness of Dr. Bhattacharya. And I hope this does offer in a new age of respectful disagreement, frank dialogue, and more and more freedom. Including freedom of expression that I personally find distasteful. Since that is the whole point!

I can feel your emotions in your writing today, the sign of good writing!

I was totally right there with you feeling so depressed and confused. I am beyond thrilled to know he will be looking out for all of us. I signed the Barrington Declaration early on and it so nice to know there were so many out there who shared our thoughts.

I’m so grateful you had some small support as you spoke out. Like you I figured out (using simple math and the CDC’s own numbers) that my teenagers were not likely to die from Covid but that the lockdowns (a friggin prison term!) would likely be much more harmful. It was a very stressful time, shepherding my kids with sanity when all around us were losing their minds. I am still so angry at the colleges who did not “mandate” the vax but told the kids they would be un-enrolled if they didn’t take it. All 3 of my children (2 boys, one girl) were “boosted” (by a fake vax) within weeks of having the Omicron version. I worry about my daughter’s fertility, her periods have been off since the vax, and hold my breath for my boys and possible cardiac issues. The universities will never be held accountable for the bullshit they forced on kids. These are schools with medical schools and hospitals on campus who absolutely should have known better. So maddening.

Thank you for this reminder. I was living in the Bay Area when COVID hit and I remember Dr Bhattacharya’s article in April 2020 about the seroprevalence in Santa Clara. I was already starting to read some skeptical articles about COVID (thank you, Jim Geraghty from National Review!) and was not happy to the authoritarian messaging begin in California. This is probably what finally triggered me to leave California in late 2020. I am very happy to see his nomination to run the NIH. I hope he can restore trust in our national science establishment although I think he has a rough road ahead. But we have to start somewhere.

I hope he'll also highlight the NIH page on the Piaget 4 stages of childhood development and dissociate from the "wrong body since birth" concept that the likes of Richard/Rachel Levine promote, to the detriment of families and children.

My son took Dr Jay’s class last year, says he was his favorite professor of all four years at Stanford. His freshman year was via Zoom from our house due to stupid, unnecessary policies, but at least during senior year, my son got to learn IRL from the courageous Dr Jay 🤠

oh that's awesome. glad to hear he's as good of a teacher/professor as he is a friend and human.

Likewise! It was already clear that Dr Jay is a gifted prof, but then we learned from your essay how Dr Jay became, for you and many others, what my mom calls “a 3am friend” — that is, the opposite of a “fair weather friend” 😌

I'm extremely happy for Dr. Jay as well.

After years of terrible news, especially as our freedoms were continually taken away during the never-ending covid period, it's so bizarre to finally hear good news. Feels like this can't possibly be real!

Powerful Jen! I too was touched by all the sincerity in your writings and your deep believe in what is right and wrong. Having such great medical experts validate your beliefs is greatly comforting and so so many people gain strength from you and all the other strong experts that surround you. I feel a big change for good is coming to our country and hopefully the rest of the world. People like you, Dr Jay and so many others that have said “enough is enough” have given so many of us the courage to push back on false narratives. Keep your spirit strong, keep fighting for truth and we will all be rewarded. We stand by you!
