There is a cancel culture price to speaking out that the high profile athletes are not willing to pay. But they would gain much more than they would lose in my opinion.

When a male joins the NWSL or the WNBA and threatens their world, maybe then they will wake up. I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet. It seems we need more idiocracy to break the spell.

I was pleased to see Aaron Rogers step out. I think athletes in general should step up here.

The only sport where men and women can compete on equal footing (no pun intended) is in Equestrian sports, where your sexual orientation or pronoun don’t matter at all.

Motorsports too, and also for a long time. Just a couple weeks ago Michelle Mouton was inducted into the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb where she beat all the men to be King of the Hill in 1985. If you want to be impressed, take a look at her drive 40 years ago: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DvtIdQxW8F2Q%26pp%3D0gcJCdgAo7VqN5tD&ved=2ahUKEwi2tIb9z5eOAxX9JEQIHZ8RCxsQwqsBegQICxAG&usg=AOvVaw3_WMR6jXIcRrhLSixkoSFE

Endorsements. Cancellation. Fear. No one wants to jeopardize their place at the top. Until they themselves get bumped, there’s little incentive to speak. Bravery stands out and shocks exactly because it’s so rare. Even or perhaps especially among those who we perceive as otherwise hardworking and tough and…brave.

As a mom of boys and girls, I am furious for the girls, but appalled for the boys. Where are the parents in all this? Why are boy moms allowing (maybe encouraging) their boys to demean themselves so? Why are they not teaching them pride and self-respect? Every aspect of this is sad.

I am convinced that a non-trivial cohort of the trans-kids are the result of Munchausen Syndrome (by proxy, perhaps) of their moms. I could go off on a rant about "moms" but the rant would be mistaken as against all moms when I love my own and my wife-as-mom! Something about "feels" rather than "reality".

The athletic non courage females you reference are more concerned about their corporate sponsorships and following the rules of the professional leagues. The do what we say mentality. Don't embarrass our brand.

Keep on truckin', Jenn. You know all about the bullshit. You wiped your shoes of it. You and women like you will survive and win. And the XX-XY brand you created will one day be on the uniforms of college women athletic teams after the NCAA sues you and loses.

Correct, the same group that runs the fake movements for Trans, BLM, and feminism runs those corporations. That same group also manages the sports stars. It's very simple narrative control.

Meanwhile the WNBA is so busy creating click-bait race-war story lines when it could be taking a front-line spot in the real war to save girls and women's sports from all the insanity.... So disappointing.

Here's a far out idea. It might take a bit of money. Pay a male basketball player, somebody at least 6'6", to claim he is a female and join the WNBA. He will dominate. Then after a while he can come out and say it was a stunt to demonstrate the absurdity of men playing as women.

There's a power lifter named Zuby (Black American dude living in the UK) who signed up in a female weight lifting contest and immediately took first place, lifting far more than the first place woman. He did exactly this to prove the point.

Riley Gaines's name comes to mind as one standout (and outstanding) female athlete of renown who's not been afraid to speak up for women and girls, and against their attempted erasure by "trans-women" (men) competing against them. It has earned her some very public attacks by these same men in leotards, including getting punched in the face early on as she walked to a campus engagement where she had been invited to speak on this very topic.

I agree that not enough women in sport that have large megaphones by virtue of their national recognition are speaking out, but it's probably worth recognizing those who *do* dare to. There are definitely those out there who are working hard to show the world the negative consequences of speaking up; we should be working as hard in the other direction, to exalt the few (like Riley), who dare to speak up as heroes. It would go a long way towards emboldening other prominent female athletes to support the cause.

Just my two cents.

Don’t be fooled by those like Gavin Newsome. He only said what he said because he thinks he’s good enough to be president. His beliefs haven’t changed and he still really believes it’s ok for men to steal women’s prizes. He showed his true colors again during the no king riots.

As long as NIL & social media money dwarfs their salaries, they have little to gain & so much to lose by being unfairly vilified.

It’s not pulling up the ladder after their ascension, but rather holding on by their fingernails (painted or not!) to what little they’ve been able to gain relative to their male counterparts.

And though it’s not living “authentically” it’s a helluva bind they’re in at present.

Rob's avatar

Yes and their male counterparts are no better. they should speak up also. The 4 minute race that Chris linked above is interesting in that Faith was surrounded with over 10 male pacers. How ironic that she needed the assistance of males when the left (and Nike) would have us believe that a male who says he is female has no physical advantage over a female.

I have been watching WNBA games as I am intrigued by Clark and others. But it’s obvious that a good boys high school player would dominate the league. There is a difference in ability and to deny or ignore it for a woke agenda is pathetic and dishonest.
