Judith, thanks in advance. I have a longwinded question maybe you can answer. At a gut level, gender ideology and the trans movement always struck me as profoundly homophobic, but I struggle to explain why. I'm a straight male, so maybe I just don't have the 'lived experience' to figure it out.
About the closest I can come is this; I apologize if I'm putting words in anyone's mouth: Gay people are attracted to members of the same sex; bisexuals to both sexes. These are minority preferences, but they have been around since the dawn of time. Therefore their preference can't be 'unnatural.' LGBs reject having to explain or defend themselves, just as left-handed people would.
But by rejecting any link between biological sex and a wide, fluid array of theoretical, non-falsifiable 'genders,' the trans movement rejects the categories 'man' and 'woman,' implicitly undermining the additional categories 'men who love men,' 'women who love women' and 'either, who love both.' This - in some way I have trouble putting my finger on - delegitimizes those three categories.
